Peter Warren Automotive are thrilled to have been selected as the winner of the Large Employer of the Year category, at the Australian Training Awards.

Our NSW operations, in which 30% of our 900+ employees are currently undertaking nationally recognised qualifications aligned to their positions, ranging from sales, customer engagement, servicing technology to leadership and management, took out the prize announced 18 November 2021.

The Australian Training Awards are the peak National Awards that showcase best practices in Vocational Education and Training. The Company’s nomination for these awards was achieved through winning the State-Based Awards, a title claimed for the group in both New South Wales and Queensland. Despite the uncertainty around trading conditions throughout 2020 and 2021, PWA has continued to create apprenticeships and traineeships delivering multiple qualifications, and we are delighted by this national acknowledgement of our commitment to developing our people.

Underpinning this award is our recently launched D.R.I.V.E program. D.R.I.V.E creates career pathways today, for tomorrow’s top automotive talent. The program’s remit is to develop apprentices and trainees whilst embedding the Peter Warren Automotive culture of excellence.

PWA undertook a significant investment in the launch of a dedicated Apprentice Academy located and delivered by TAFE NSW, Campbelltown Campus. The D.R.I.V.E Apprentice Academy aligns apprentice training to OEM technical training with a key driver around improving apprentice retention. The D.R.I.V.E Apprentice Academy is the only one of its kind delivered by TAFE NSW in partnership with an automotive industry dealer group in NSW and is heavily supported by our OEM partners.

Importantly, and as a reflection of the future of our industry, over 20% of our technicians are enrolled on a second trade qualification in Cert III, Automotive Electrical Technology, delivered in partnership with the Motor Traders Association NSW, with a focus on Hybrid & Electrical Vehicle Technology.

Reflecting on the achievement, Mark Weaver, CEO of Peter Warren Automotive Holdings Limited said :

Our commitment to providing career pathways for our people is not only evidenced by our development of D.R.I.V.E but also by this National and dual State acknowledgment. A testament to our organisational commitment to training and development.

Despite the D.R.I.V.E. program still being in its infancy, we are very excited by the progress made, and the future of our employees who choose to pursue excellence through these training programs, as they carve out their own career pathway in the automotive industry and prepare themselves and our business for the ever-changing Automotive landscape.
